Trail Riding & Lessons in Tuscany
Looking for things to do in Florence or Siena while you are here? Why not enjoy one of our 'horse tours' in Tuscany, or even pony trekking for the children. At La Fiaba we welcome non resident guests to come horseback riding with us. We have a range of horse riding options to suit every rider.
Day Rides: Come with us on one of our full day rides through the Tuscany hills. A full days riding includes lunch, which will either be served at a small trattoria or picnic style prepared by our very own Italian chef. We have horses to suit many types of rider from novice to experienced. For the full day ride you should be competant at mounting and dismounting your horse from the ground, handling your horse and controlling a well mannered horse in walk and trot on the roads and in open spaces. We have both western and english style saddles available. Total riding time approximately 6 hours.
Half Day Rides: If you are a little short on time then perhaps a half day riding out through Tuscany is perfect for you. You should be competant at controlling a well mannered horse in walk and trot on the roads as well as in open spaces. We have both western and english style saddles available. Total riding time approximately 3 hours.
Lessons: If you would like lessons on our horses we can provide lessons for adults and children (over 5 years of age) from total beginners to advanced riders. We specialise in nervous riders and beginners. We offer private and semi private lessons (up to 3 people). Lessons range from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Pony Rides: For young children (over 5 years of age) who would like to try horse riding, we offer short pony rides of approximately 15 minutes around our estate. This is ideal for children who have never been on a horse, or for those who tire easily (a half an hour private lesson is very tiring for small children), or who perhaps don't yet have the co-ordination and balance to begin intense horse riding lessons yet.
Pony Trekking For beginners and children under 14 years old, we can make a one or two hour horse tour of the Belmonte estate.
Cross Country Jumping We have a small cross country course for capable riders. Cross country lessons are subject to availability, we will not risk our horses jumping on bad ground.
Theory and Groundwork: Our theory lessons are designed for the classical rider. These lessons are all about developing a feel for your own body and balance, which is important if you wish to transfer the same knowledge whilst riding your horse. If you would like to learn more about caring for horses and how to correctly handle and teach your horse from the ground, we can provide lessons. This is ideal for people who are thinking about buying their own horse, but would like to learn more about horse husbandary first.
All riders will be given an assesment prior to riding with us for the first time, this is included in the price and the total riding time. If we feel you are not yet able to ride one of our horses on our trail rides, we may offer you a riding lesson as an alternative. This is for your own personal safety.
